Known issues on the 1995 MX-6. The 1995 MX-6 carries 2 recalls on the federal record. Certain cars equipped with the SAS sensor unit could deploy their air bags after a minor hit to the underbody, and an unexpected deployment could injure occupants; dealers reprogrammed the SAS unit to make such deployments in low-speed underbody impacts less likely. On certain 1995 MX-6 vehicles, the ignition switch could overheat because its contact grease may become conductive, a fire risk; dealers replaced the switch. Air bags lead the 33 owner complaints with 10 and the power train follows with 7; 6 complaints reported a crash, 3 a fire and 9 an injury.
