Known issues on the 1988 MX-6. The federal record lists 5 recalls for the 1988 MX-6. In certain cars with Takata-made safety belts, a front buckle release button could break and foul the buckle; owners were to check both buckles and have a faulty one repaired or replaced, while a fix for intact buttons was in development. In certain 1988 MX-6 vehicles, frost could build inside the throttle body during long, steady running in sub-zero cold, possibly keeping the throttle valve from returning smoothly; dealers fitted a new thermostat to warm it.
