Known issues on the 1993 MX-6. Two recall campaigns name the 1993 MX-6. In certain cars, grease on the ignition switch contacts could turn conductive and overheat the switch, a fire risk; dealers replaced it. The other covered 2,450 vehicles: certain 1993 MX-6 cars produced at one specific assembly plant, whose front lower-arm ball joints may not have been tightened to specification, risking suspension failure on the move and lost steering control. Dealers inspected the retaining bolts and tightened loose ones to the correct torque. Of 54 owner complaints, 11 involve hydraulic service brakes and 9 the engine and engine cooling; 5 reported a crash, 4 an injury and 1 a death.
