This factory service and repair manual for the 1995 Land Rover Discovery is built around one specific configuration, engine and trim, so the torque values and procedures inside are the ones Land Rover published for the 3.9L V8 (VIN 2) fitted to your truck, not a generic figure borrowed from a later Discovery II.

Known issues on the 1995 Discovery. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers replacement rear driveshaft couplings sold as service parts that were not manufactured to the required engineering specification, which can allow the joint to separate and the driveshaft to detach from a moving vehicle. The second covers the right front door hinge and latch, which can fail to latch fully on closing and bounce back open. The third covers the axle assembly, where incorrectly sized nuts used on reinstalled driveshafts can loosen and allow one or both driveshafts to disconnect, causing loss of control. The fourth covers the frontal air bag system, where a chafed cruise control wire can overheat the steering wheel rotary coupler and cause the driver's air bag to deploy without warning. Owners have filed 56 complaints for the year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From inspecting a rear driveshaft coupling to checking axle nut torque or a front door latch, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 1995 Discovery.
