1993 Subaru Legacy Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1993 Subaru Legacy is written around a 2.2L flat-four with single overhead camshafts, sold either naturally aspirated or with a turbocharger, always on gasoline. Known issues on the 1993 Legacy. A single recall appears for the 1993 Legacy. It applied to certain all-wheel-drive cars with the 5-speed manual registered in certain states, where continuous driving in extreme cold and humidity could let ice seal off the gearbox breather; rising pressure could then force out a seal, and without oil the transmission could lock up and stop the car abruptly. Owners filed 77 complaints, most often about the engine and engine cooling at 17, then seat belts at 13 and air bags at 10. Of those, 9 complaints reported a crash, 5 an injury and 1 a fire.
