Known issues on the 1986 Prelude. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the fuel filler and breather pipes: damage to their plastic coating can let salt water reach the steel underneath, and the resulting corrosion can rust through the pipes and let gasoline fumes and fuel leak out near a possible ignition source. The second covers the front seat belt buckle assembly, whose red "PRESS" release buttons can break and drop pieces into the buckle, causing it to operate improperly and leaving an occupant without adequate crash protection.
