1983 Mercury Grand Marquis Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis works across three trims — Base, Colony Park and LS — and three bodies, since the two-door sedan, four-door sedan and four-door wagon were all built that year. Known issues on the 1983 Grand Marquis. Three recalls are on the federal record. Two of them concern the automatic transmission: a retaining pin on the internal park linkage rod that can break, so the parking gear never engages even with the lever in Park, and column shift selector tube clips too soft to hold, letting the tube move and the indicator show a gear other than the one selected. The third covers replacement fuel pumps whose diaphragms can leak and feed a fire. Of 13 complaints, four fall on the power train, two on the electrical system and two on visibility.
