Known issues on the 2018 Atlas. The 2018 Atlas drew 17 recalls on the federal record. One recalled certain 2018 Atlas vehicles whose brake caliper pistons might lack enough coating to brake at full strength; owners were told not to drive until the calipers were bled. Another covers certain vehicles in which a steering rack mounting bolt can corrode and snap, cracking the rack housing and costing steering control. A third, for certain vehicles, involves wiring in the passenger occupant detection system that can switch off the front passenger air bag. Owners have filed 462 complaints, led by the electrical system (111), air bags (100) and engine (97); 8 complaints reported a crash and 13 an injury.
