Known issues on the 2018 S4. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, both tied to the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS). The first involves oxidation on the PODS connecting cable, which can cause the system to misdiagnose a malfunction and disable the passenger air bag. The second involves a contact fault in the cable connecting the seat heater to PODS, which can trigger the same false malfunction and disable the passenger air bag. Owners have filed 7 complaints for this model year, and no technical service bulletins are logged.
