Known issues on the 2017 Optima. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the trunk lid latch: the trunk latch base may crack, and a person inside the trunk compartment may become trapped, increasing their risk of injury. The second covers gasoline fuel delivery hoses, lines and fittings on vehicles that previously received an engine replacement under an earlier recall — a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 343 complaints for the year and Kia has issued 137 technical service bulletins.
