On certain cars from a specific production window with the 2.5L engine and regenerative engine braking, the alternator belt slipping in heavy rain or deep puddles could lead the PCM to wrongly cut charging, risking weak acceleration, lost steering assist and wipers, or a stall; dealers reprogrammed the PCM. On certain cars built within another production window, a tank possibly mishandled in production could let the inlet check valve weld fail and leak fuel; depending on tank lot, the weld was inspected and the tank replaced where needed.
