On certain 2005 Mazda 3 vehicles, the steering-wheel air bag cover carried a plastic emblem that could fracture during deployment and scatter fragments; the cover was replaced. The second recall covered 2 vehicles, certain cars in which a cracked solder joint holding the acceleration sensor inside the air bag sensor unit touched the base plate and was damaged, which could stop the air bags deploying in a frontal crash; the remedy was a dealer repair.
