This factory service and repair manual for the 2013 GMC Sierra 3500 HD splits its engine coverage between a turbocharged 6.6L diesel V8 displacing 403 cubic inches and a naturally aspirated 6.0L V8 of 364 cubic inches approved for gasoline or flex-fuel, both overhead-valve. Around them sit five bodies — crew cab and extended cab pickups, a standard cab pickup, and two- or four-door cab and chassis — and four trims in Denali, SLE, SLT and WT, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics broken out by system.

Known issues on the 2013 Sierra 3500 HD. Four recalls appear on the federal record. Two concern passenger frontal air bag inflators liable to rupture and throw metal fragments at occupants. One covers dual-tank trucks in which a stuck fuel-level sensor lets the rear tank overfill the front until it swells against the driveshaft and leaks. The last involves a fire extinguisher that may clog and fail to discharge. Of 53 complaints, air bags lead, with power train and steering behind them — areas this manual addresses through its restraint, transmission, axle and steering procedures.
