Known issues on the 2012 ML350. Three recalls were filed naming the 2012 ML350. On certain vehicles, water could collect in the spare tire well and harm its fuel pump control unit, letting the engine stall on the road; dealers fit a drain plug and replace the unit as needed. Certain non-Base versions equipped with the Active Curve System could push foaming oil out of the reservoir cap vents when the oil level ran low, raising the risk of fire. A third recall updated control unit software on certain Bluetec versions because the air bags might not deploy as intended. Of the 66 complaints on the 2012 ML350, the engine accounts for 21, fuel and propulsion 12 and the electrical system 11; 5 reported a crash, 1 a fire and 4 an injury.
