Known issues on the 2006 ML350. The federal record holds two recalls for the 2006 ML350, and both address certain vehicles in which moisture could gather inside the brake booster housing and corrode it, weakening the brakes or causing them to fail. Owners were told not to drive until a dealer had inspected the booster and replaced it where needed. NHTSA also filed three recalls against the 2006 M-Class line, apart from that count; one covered certain vehicles equipped with a Flex-N-Gate trailer hitch whose receiver welds fell short of specification. Owners filed 183 complaints on the 2006 ML350, led by the power train (48), engine (35) and electrical system (30); 10 reported a crash, 18 a fire and 10 an injury.
