2012 Chevrolet Avalanche Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche runs Base, LS, LT and LTZ over identical mechanicals: a 325-cubic-inch 5.3-liter V8, overhead-valve, naturally aspirated, flex-fuel, in a four-door crew cab pickup. That uniformity is the point of the book — one set of engine clearances and torque sequences, one driveline, one brake and suspension specification, and wiring diagrams that vary only with the equipment a given truck was built with.

Known issues on the 2012 Avalanche. Three recalls are on the record for this year. Two involve an air bag inflator that can burst as it fires, turning parts of its own housing into projectiles. The third is the ignition lock actuator, which can bind badly enough to stick the ignition in the Start position and then fall back to Accessory, cutting engine power, steering assist and brake assist while the truck is moving. Complaints are modest at 52, eight of them on air bags. Restraint, ignition and steering diagnostics are all specified here.
