Known issues on the 2010 Avalanche. Four recalls attach to the year. Three of them share one mechanism: an air bag inflator that can explode instead of inflating cleanly, sending sharp fragments toward whoever is sitting in front of it. The fourth covers aftermarket seat covers made of heavier thread than the seats' side air bags can push through, which can block a bag from deploying fully. Complaints total 117, with 55 against air bags, 13 against structure and eight against the electrical system — the restraint, body and wiring sections here address each of those.
