Known issues on the 2009 Avalanche. Five recalls are recorded for this model year. Three describe an air bag inflator that can rupture during deployment and drive metal fragments at the occupants. A fourth involves the fuel system control module, whose sealant can separate from the housing and admit water, producing shorts or open circuits, a lit service engine lamp, stored trouble codes and hard starting.
