Known issues on the 2010 HHR. Four recalls sit on the federal record for this model year. Two of them describe control being lost while driving: a sudden loss of electric power steering assist on cars without the turbocharged engine, which makes low-speed steering heavy without warning, and an ignition switch that a loaded key ring can drag out of run, cutting the engine and leaving the air bags inert. A third lets the key come out with the switch not off, so the car can roll away, and the fourth covers replacement switches with the same flaw. Steering dominates the 515 complaints with 231.
