This factory service and repair manual for the 2008 Chevrolet HHR opens with the only forced-induction engine in its list, a turbocharged 2.0L DOHC inline-four of 122 cubic inches, followed by naturally aspirated 2.2L and 2.4L fours of 134 and 145 cubic inches. Known issues on the 2008 HHR. The federal record holds five recalls for this model year. An ignition switch that lets its key be removed out of the off position can leave the car free to roll; the same switch, weighted by a heavy key ring, can slip from run to accessory and stall the engine, and with the ignition out of run the air bags will not deploy in a crash. Replacement switches sold for that repair carry the same fault. Two further recalls concern head impact protection inside the cabin. Steering accounts for 297 of 616 complaints, ahead of the electrical system at 79.
