2009 Chevrolet HHR Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2009 Chevrolet HHR covers three engines, two of which run flex-fuel: a 2.2L inline-four of 134 cubic inches and a 2.4L of 145, both naturally aspirated, plus a turbocharged 2.0L of 122. All three are twin-cam. The bodies are the four-door and two-door wagon, and six trims sit on them, LS, LS Panel, LT, LT Panel, SS and SS Panel. Flex-fuel operation changes the fuel system data, and the manual keeps those figures with their engine.

Known issues on the 2009 HHR. Five recalls are recorded for this year. The ignition switch appears three times over: a key removable out of the off position, so the car can roll away; a switch pulled from run by key ring weight, stalling the engine and disabling the air bags; and replacement switches with the same weakness. A column shift fault can leave the vehicle unable to restart and free to roll once the driver steps out. Steering and the electrical system lead the 508 complaints at 127 and 117.
