2010 BMW Z4 Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 2010 BMW Z4 narrows to one body — the two-door convertible — and four trims: 2.5si, 3.0si, sDrive30i and sDrive35i. Behind them are three inline-sixes: a naturally aspirated 2.5L of 152 cubic inches, a naturally aspirated 3.0L and a turbocharged 3.0L. Since two of those share a displacement and differ only in induction, the specifications, torque values and diagnostic routines have to be read against the right engine rather than the right liter figure.

Known issues on the 2010 Z4. Five recalls are recorded federally for this year. Two of them cover the bolts holding the variable camshaft timing housing, which can loosen and break over time and leave the engine down on power or stalled. Two more cover the positive crankcase ventilation valve heater, where a short circuit brings a fire risk parked or moving. The last covers a loss of electrical power that can stall the car outright. Of ten complaints, three name engine and engine cooling. Camshaft timing, crankcase ventilation and charging-system diagnostics are all specified in this manual.
