Known issues on the 2004 Z4. A single recall stands on the federal record for this year, and it concerns the fuel pump: under certain conditions a vapor lock forms, the engine stalls, and no restart is possible for a quarter of an hour or more. Owner complaints run to 411 and are overwhelmingly about steering, which accounts for 378 of them, ahead of 16 on the air bags and eight on the electrical system.
