Known issues on the 2008 Z4. The federal record holds two recalls for this year, both on the positive crankcase ventilation valve heater and both a fire hazard: a short circuit can melt the valve's internal parts with the car sitting idle, or make the heater run hot enough to ignite during a drive or soon after parking. Owner complaints number 19 and lead with the air bags at eight, then steering at five and engine and engine cooling at two.
