2009 Mazda Tribute Service and Repair Manual
The 2009 Mazda Tribute came as a hybrid or a straight gas SUV, and the VIN tells you which engine is under the hood: VIN 3 is the 2.5L L4 hybrid, VIN 7 is the 2.5L L4 gas, and VIN G is the 3.0L V6. Known issues on the 2009 Tribute. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers front wheel bearings supplied as an aftermarket service part with incorrect dimensions, which can adversely affect braking and steering and increase the risk of a crash. The second covers the electric power steering system, where the steering torque sensor can fail to properly detect driver input, causing the system to remove EPS assist and requiring greater driver effort to steer at low speeds. Owners have filed 35 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From tracing a lost power steering assist to checking a replacement front wheel bearing against factory dimensions, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2009 Tribute, hybrid or gas.
