Known issues on the 2008 Tribute. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers a remanufactured CD4E automatic transmission whose shift lever bolt may not be properly tightened, letting the shift control lever disengage so the gear indicator can read "PARK" while the vehicle is not actually parked and can roll away. The second covers aftermarket front wheel bearings sold as replacement parts with an incorrect outer diameter and width, which can adversely affect braking and steering. The third covers the electric power steering torque sensor, which may fail to properly detect driver input and remove steering assist, requiring greater effort at low speeds. The fourth covers the Hybrid model's coolant pump, which can fail and let the hybrid electronics overheat and shut down the powertrain, producing a stall-like condition. The fifth covers 3.0L V6 models with speed control, where inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector can cause a stuck throttle at full or near-full pedal travel.
