Known issues on the 2006 Tribute. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers aftermarket front wheel bearings sold as replacement parts: units with an undersized outer dimension and width can adversely affect braking and steering, increasing the risk of a crash. The second covers 3.0L V6 models with speed control, where inadequate clearance between the engine cover and the speed control cable connector can produce a stuck throttle at full or near-full pedal travel, risking very high speeds and difficulty stopping the vehicle. The third covers the windshield wiper motor, where an ungreased output shaft gear can distort or fracture after sustained high-speed use, cutting out wiper function in bad weather.
