Known issues on the 2008 Yaris. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three of them cover the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module: in two, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants, and in the third, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. Two cover the power window devices and controls: in the first, the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant; in the second, if the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire. The remaining three concern labels. One covers incorrect load carrying capacity modification labels, which could result in the vehicle being overloaded. One, from Southeast Toyota, covers vehicles that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, Tire Selection and Rims, where a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash. The last, from Gulf States Toyota, cites the same standard, where the labeling does not meet the standard requirements. Owners have filed 289 complaints against this model year, and Toyota has issued 79 technical service bulletins.
