This factory service and repair manual for the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt is a three-engine book, and one of the three is turbocharged: the 2.0L DOHC inline-four of 122 cubic inches, joined by naturally aspirated DOHC fours of 2.4L (145 cubic inches) and 2.2L (134). Two bodies carry them, a two-door coupe and a four-door sedan, in LS, LT, Sport and SS trim. Charge-air and boost-related procedures therefore run in parallel with the naturally aspirated engine work rather than replacing it.

Known issues on the 2008 Cobalt. Five recalls stand on the federal record for this year. Two involve the ignition switch, one where the key can be pulled out with the switch not in off, leaving the car able to roll away, and one where the switch drops out of run so the air bags will not fire in a crash. Others cover a replacement ignition switch that slips to accessory and stalls the engine, a fuel pump that can leak toward an ignition source, and power steering assist that can disappear without warning. Complaints reach 940, led by 310 on steering, then 185 on fuel and propulsion and 123 on the electrical system.
