2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt has three engines to keep straight: the naturally aspirated 2.2L DOHC inline-four of 134 cubic inches, the supercharged 2.0L DOHC four of 122, and the naturally aspirated 2.4L DOHC four of 145. They were sold in a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe across four trims, LS, LT, LTZ and SS. Because the displacements sit close together, correct identification matters before any specification is used, and the book keeps their data separate for exactly that reason.

Known issues on the 2006 Cobalt. The federal record holds six recalls for this model year. In one, the key can come out of the ignition when the switch is not off and the car can roll away; in another, replacement ignition switches can slip from run to accessory, stalling the engine and leaving the air bags unable to deploy. A third covers fuel pumps that can leak, with fire the consequence if the fuel meets an ignition source. Complaints total 2,330: steering leads with 1,291, ahead of 229 on the electrical system and 216 on the fuel and propulsion system, each with its own diagnostics here.
