Known issues on the 2002 Boxster. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the automatic transmission: cars built with the Tiptronic transmission may have been produced with an incorrectly adjusted key-lock cable down to the shift selector, and if the selector lever is then shifted out of "P" into "R", "N" or "D" with the vehicle parked and the parking brake not on, the vehicle will not be secured from inadvertently rolling away, increasing the risk of a crash. A second, from Porsche, covers the headlights: the caps that cover the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted, so they may not illuminate the road properly or may cause a glare to oncoming drivers. The remaining two are equipment recalls on aftermarket combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies sold for various passenger vehicles, which do not contain the amber side reflectors required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, and decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash. Owners have filed 11 complaints for the year.
