Known issues on the 1999 Boxster. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers Tiptronic-equipped cars with an incorrectly adjusted key-lock cable: the ignition key can snag on removal, or the selector lever can be shifted out of Park with the key removed, and if the parking brake is not on the car is not secured from rolling away, increasing the risk of a crash. The other two cover aftermarket corner and bumper lamp assemblies sold for various passenger vehicles, including this one, that fail Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 because they lack the required amber side reflectors, decreasing lighting visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
