2000 Porsche Boxster Service and Repair Manual
Every figure in this factory service and repair manual is tied to the 2000 Porsche Boxster as it was actually built, down to the flat-six under the cover and the trim the car left the factory as, so the specifications and tightening sequences you work to are the ones Porsche published for this vehicle rather than values carried over from an adjacent year.

Known issues on the 2000 Boxster. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first is a power train recall against the automatic transmission, covering certain 2-door convertibles built with the Tiptronic transmission: the key-lock-cable down to the shift selector may have been adjusted incorrectly, so the ignition key can snag as it is removed from the ignition lock, or the selector lever can be shifted out of "P" with the ignition key removed and the locking button operated. If the lever is then shifted from "P" to "R, N or D" with the vehicle parked and the parking brake not on, the car is not secured from inadvertently rolling away, increasing the risk of a crash. The other two are exterior lighting recalls, the second of them filed against headlights, and neither is on a part Porsche fitted: they cover combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles, 16,270 of them from SaberSport and 42,540 from Dope, Inc., which fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 because they do not contain the required amber side reflectors, and the decreased lighting visibility that results may lead to a crash. Owners have filed 5 complaints for the year.
From a Tiptronic selector that will not release the key to a lighting circuit someone has already been into, it holds you to Porsche's own procedure and the correct specification for your 2000 Boxster.
