Known issues on the 2000 Neon. NHTSA lists 5 recalls against the 2000 Neon. On certain 2000 Neon vehicles in severe cold, crankcase ventilation moisture could freeze inside the throttle body and hold the throttle off idle; a rerouted tube fixed it. Certain vehicles had a brake booster vacuum hose that oil and heat could swell until it slipped off the intake manifold, costing power assist. A third reached 744 certain vehicles with possibly weak welds that could let the front lower control arm part from its pivot tube. Of 141 complaints, 36 cite the hydraulic service brakes; 29 reported a crash, 16 at least one injury and 3 a death.
