On certain 2000 Century vehicles, the driver's side-impact air bag inflator could break away from its module as the bag fired, spoiling the deployment and possibly dropping toward a rear passenger's feet; dealers fitted a new module. Certain cars with rear drum brakes could shed bolt heads from the rear spindle rod, letting a rear wheel shift and steer the car from behind.
