Known issues on the 1989 Firebird. There are 2 recalls on the federal record for this year. The first concerned certain 1989 Firebird cars with the 2.8-liter V6, whose engine-end fuel feed hose could separate from its crimped coupling, releasing gasoline into the engine bay where it might ignite; dealers installed a redesigned hose. The second involved seat belt buckles on certain 1989 Firebird vehicles with plastic parts that could weaken and break. Of 21 owner complaints, 7 cite seat belts, 3 hydraulic service brakes and 3 steering, and 4 complaints reported a crash.
