1989 Chevrolet K3500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1989 Chevrolet K3500 carries three engines and three bodies, and the pairing matters: the 7.4L gasoline V8 of 454 cubic inches, the 6.2L diesel V8 of 379 and the 5.7L gasoline V8 of 350 were each installed in a two-door standard cab pickup, a two-door extended cab pickup or a two-door cab and chassis, in Cheyenne, Scottsdale or Silverado trim. Known issues on the 1989 K3500. Two recalls appear on the federal record. One covers replacement fuel filters that can seal poorly where they connect, letting fuel escape and creating a fire risk near an ignition source. The other covers incorrect instructions for adjusting the rear lap-shoulder belts, which can leave an occupant improperly restrained in a crash or a sudden stop. Seven owner complaints have been recorded, three of them on the engine and cooling group and one each on visibility and the power train — cooling, driveline and restraint service all appear here with their specifications.
