Known issues on the 1983 Thunderbird. Four recalls hang over the 1983 Thunderbird. One concerns fuel leaks at two connections in the fuel supply line, one under the car and one at a pressure fitting in the engine compartment. Another covers an automatic transmission whose parking gear may not engage even with the lever in Park, because of an improperly made pin in the internal linkage. A third involves fuel tanks with inadequately welded front seams that can leak. Owners have filed six complaints with NHTSA, two of them about vehicle speed control.
