Known issues on the 2023 X3. Four recalls stand on the federal record for this year. In one, transmission oil works its way into the control unit and can seize the gears, taking drive power away without warning. In another, wear inside the engine starter lets it overheat and catch fire. A third concerns second-row door locking modules that let a door be unlocked in a single motion, so it can open unexpectedly.
