2009 BMW X3 Service and Repair Manual

An xDrive30i joins the 2.5si and 3.0si for 2009, and this factory service and repair manual for the 2009 BMW X3 covers all three, still on a choice of two naturally aspirated inline-sixes — the 2.5L of 152 cubic inches and the 3.0L, double overhead camshafts, gasoline — in a four-door sport utility body. Known issues on the 2009 X3. Three recalls apply to this year, two of them on the restraint system. In one, a driver frontal air bag inflator can explode rather than deploy because its propellant has broken down, scattering metal fragments. In the other, cracks in the front passenger seat detection mat make the system read the seat wrongly and shut that air bag off. The third is a fire risk: the crankcase ventilation valve heater can short and melt the valve. Of 88 complaints, 31 name the air bags, 11 the electrical system and 6 engine and cooling.
