Known issues on the 2018 X1. Four recalls stand on the federal record. One involves a crankshaft sensor loaded with the wrong firmware, so it misreads the reluctor ring and the engine can stall. Another covers a steering tie rod assembled incorrectly, wearing at the end until it breaks and takes vehicle control with it. A third concerns taillight brackets that crack on contaminated hardware and let the housing work loose.
