Known issues on the 2016 XJ. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front passenger air bag inflator module: a failed initiator can prevent the air bag from deploying in a crash of sufficient severity, increasing the risk of injury. The second covers the instrument cluster, which can intermittently go blank and stop showing vehicle speed and other critical information, increasing the risk of a crash.
