For certain cars built within a specified production period, heat from the engine or exhaust could wear down the fuel pump sealing rings until fuel seeped out, a fire hazard; dealers fitted a new ring set and put an insulating pad on the fuel tank. Certain 2007 RX-8 vehicles still unrepaired after an earlier passenger air bag recall carry an inflator that could burst on deployment once its propellant degraded, and owners were told not to drive until it was replaced.
