2006 Isuzu F-Series Service and Repair Manual

Many 2006 Isuzu F-Series trucks were specified with air brakes, and three separate federal campaigns that year involve brake valves. The tilt-cab FTR, FVR and FXR were all built in Flint on the GM partnership platform and powered by the 7.8-liter 6HK1-TC inline-six turbodiesel. For this model year, this service and repair manual pairs each designation with the correct procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams, diagnostics and maintenance schedules, so brake valve, steering, driveline and engine work is done to 2006 values rather than borrowed from a neighbouring year.

Known issues on the 2006 F-Series. Three recalls are on federal record. In one, the check valve inside Bendix SR-7 brake valves may not seat, delaying spring-brake application after the dash park button is pulled and risking rollaway. In another, an internal control and check valve in the air brake application valve was configured wrongly, failing FMVSS 121 and lengthening emergency stops. A third covers Bendix park control valves that can leak or restrict air so the park brake releases only partly or fails to hold on a slope. One owner complaint, about exterior lighting, is also logged. The manual's air brake procedures cover testing and replacing these valves.
