2004 Isuzu F-Series Service and Repair Manual

2004 was the first model year of Isuzu's reworked F-Series, a GM-partnership tilt cab built in Flint, Michigan, and sold as the FTR, FVR and FXR, while the Class 5 FRR stayed on the federal model list. Every version used the 7.8-liter 6HK1-TC inline-six turbodiesel, rated from 200 to 250 horsepower at launch, with Allison transmissions standard on the new trucks and GVWRs from 24,350 lb to 37,600 lb on a single rear axle. Known issues on the 2004 F-Series. One recall is on federal record: FRR trucks fitted with the optional oil pan heater (RPO IG3) can collect debris where the heater plug meets the extension cord, overheating the cord and melting the plug, which raises the risk of fire.
