2006 GMC Sierra 1500 HD Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 HD documents a heavy-duty half-ton that changed very little from year to year: still the gasoline 364-cubic-inch 6.0L V8 in naturally aspirated, overhead-valve form, still a four-door crew cab body, still SLE and SLT trim. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are laid out system by system, without the branching a multi-engine, multi-cab truck forces on a service manual.

Known issues on the 2006 Sierra 1500 HD. Six recalls have been issued against this truck. A power steering hose that was not to specification could split during a hard steering maneuver and leak, costing power assist and, with hydro-boost brakes, braking assist too. A fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip could fracture and allow fuel to escape. Two of the remaining campaigns concern labeling, an incomplete rim designation and an inaccurate vehicle capacity weight, either of which can lead to the wrong wheel or the wrong tire pressure. Complaints total 279, 112 of them on the service brakes.
