Known issues on the 2006 DTS. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the ignition: extra weight on the key ring can knock the key out of the run position, which can prevent airbag deployment in a crash and cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking. Two separate recalls cover the heated washer fluid system: a short circuit on the module's printed circuit board can overheat the control-circuit ground wire, causing other electrical features to malfunction, create an odor, or cause smoke, increasing the risk of fire; a later action found the heated washer module itself could ignite and cause a fire. The fourth covers the power steering hose connectors on V8-equipped cars, which may have been inadequately crimped and can leak fluid, causing a loss of steering assist and, if the fluid reaches hot engine parts, an engine compartment fire. Owners have filed 255 complaints for the year.
From tracing a washer-system short to inspecting a power steering hose or a routine service interval, this manual keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your 2006 DTS.
