2003 Isuzu Rodeo Service and Repair Manual

New grille and headlights freshened the 2003 Rodeo, and halfway through the year Isuzu switched to an Aisin AW30-40LS four-speed automatic, so two automatic transmission designs exist for this model year. Trims were S, S V6, LS and LSE on the four-door SUV, with the 2.2L DOHC four-cylinder and the 3.2L DOHC V6. Confirming which gearbox you have is the first step for any driveline job. Known issues on the 2003 Rodeo. Three recalls are on federal record: fuel pump feed ports that can develop pinholes after exposure to silicon-contaminated fuel sold around Tyler, Texas, a fire risk (05V466000); corrosion in salt-belt states at the forward mounting bracket for the rear suspension lower link, which can detach from the frame (13V547000); and a brake fluid warning lamp that would not light when fluid ran low, corrected by replacing diodes (03V390000). NHTSA also holds 16 owner complaints, most often citing body structure, engine and cooling and suspension.
