1998 Isuzu Rodeo Service and Repair Manual

An all-new Rodeo arrived for 1998 with fresh styling and a new engine lineup: a 2.2L DOHC four-cylinder and a 205-hp 3.2L DOHC V6. The four-door SUV was offered in S and LS trims. Known issues on the 1998 Rodeo. Six recalls are on federal record: a safety improvement campaign replacing 2.2L four-cylinder timing belts that could break early and stall the engine (01I002000); corrosion in salt-belt states at the forward mounting bracket for the rear suspension lower link, which can detach from the frame (10V436000); ABS control software that could lengthen stopping distances, fixed with a revised algorithm (02I002000); and a poorly crimped engine harness ground terminal that can fracture and make the powertrain control module cut fuel, causing a no-start or stall (98V170000). Two further campaigns cover rear axle link hardware and an accessory floor mat. NHTSA also holds 513 owner complaints, most often citing service brakes, brake hydraulics and body structure.
