Known issues on the 2003 MDX. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year: a passenger frontal air bag inflator whose explosion may send sharp metal fragments at the driver or other occupants, a driver frontal air bag inflator with the same explosion and fragment risk, a second passenger frontal air bag inflator that may rupture and strike occupants with metal fragments, an air bag system fault in which electrical noise causes a component in the air bag control module to fail and the front air bags to deploy inadvertently, and a replacement accelerator pedal assembly that may bind so the engine does not quickly return to idle. Owners have filed 259 complaints for this year, and 160 technical service bulletins are on record. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an SRS control-module fault to a hard-to-trace wiring problem, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2003 MDX.
